“As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men."

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Psalm 139:13-17 beautifully praises the Lord in these words:

You formed my inmost being;

you knit me in my mother's womb.

I praise you, so wonderfully you made me;

  wonderful are your works!

My very self you knew;

 my bones were not hidden from you,

When I was being made in secret,

  fashioned as in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes foresaw my actions;

  in your book all are written down;

  my days were shaped, before one came to be.

How precious to me are your designs, O God;

  how vast the sum of them!

Do we sense the tender love the Creator had in making humans?

God created each of us as unique human being in accordance with his divine plan. He set the purpose of life, with specific structure, providing detailed arrangement. To carry out his plan, he calls each of us to follow him, gives us missions to accomplish. In the past, when his first disciples were called by Jesus, they sensed that Jesus was inviting them to a higher way of life and they saw themselves, not as they were, but as they could be. To such invitation there could only be one response: to repent and believe the Good News. Needless to say, Jesus calls us to conversion and repentance, but more than that, he calls us to follow him as evangelizers of his message. This call is a constant one.  We must continue to answer through our lives. It is an on-going battle and the challenge of a lifetime. There are no half measures in following Christ, no gloating over earthly possessions, a craving after material rewards.

By choosing to follow Christ we can change our lives.
